United Arab Emirates

The national flag of the United Arab Emirates consists of a vertical red band at the hoist and three horizontal stripes in green, white and black. Red symbolizes courage and strength, green represents hope, prosperity and agriculture, white stands for peace and honesty, and black signifies resilience, strength and the nation's rich heritage. Together, the colors are the traditional Pan-Arab colors.

The United Arab Emirates officially adopted its current national flag on December 2, 1971, when the federation was established. The flag was designed by Abdullah Mohammed Al Maainah and has become a symbol of unity among the seven emirates.
