Nauru
The national flag of Nauru features a deep blue field divided by a thin horizontal yellow stripe with a white twelve-pointed star below the stripe near the hoist. The blue symbolizes the Pacific Ocean, the yellow stripe represents the Equator, and the white star marks Nauru's location just south of the Equator. The twelve points symbolize the island's traditional tribes.
Nauru officially adopted its national flag on January 31, 1968, when the island gained independence from the United Nations Trust Territory administered by Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom. The design reflects Nauru's geography and cultural heritage.
