Norway

The national flag of Norway consists of a red field with an indigo-blue Nordic cross outlined in white. Red, white and blue symbolize liberty and democracy, while the Nordic cross reflects Norway's Christian heritage and its historical and cultural ties with the other Nordic countries.

Norway officially adopted its current national flag on July 17, 1821. It was designed by Fredrik Meltzer and became a powerful symbol of Norwegian identity during the country's path toward full independence in 1905.
