Cyprus

The national flag of Cyprus features a white field with a copper-orange silhouette of the island above two green olive branches. The copper color refers to the island's historic copper deposits, from which Cyprus derives its name. The olive branches symbolize peace and reconciliation between the island's communities, while the white background represents harmony.

The current flag of Cyprus was officially adopted on August 16, 1960, when the Republic of Cyprus gained independence from the United Kingdom. Designed by İsmet Güney, it is one of the few national flags to depict the outline of the country itself, emphasizing peace and coexistence.
