Western Sahara
The flag commonly used by the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic consists of horizontal black, white and green stripes with a red triangle at the hoist containing a red crescent and star. The Pan-Arab colors symbolize Arab unity and heritage, while the crescent and star represent Islamic tradition and hope.
The flag was first adopted by the Polisario Front in 1973 and later became the flag of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic, proclaimed in 1976. Western Sahara remains a disputed territory, and different flags are used in different areas depending on administration.
