Palestine
The national flag of Palestine consists of three horizontal stripes in black, white and green with a red triangle at the hoist. These Pan-Arab colors symbolize Arab unity and history. Black represents the Abbasid Caliphate, white the Umayyad Caliphate, green the Fatimid Caliphate, and red honors the Hashemite dynasty and the Arab Revolt.
The Palestinian flag is derived from the flag of the Arab Revolt of 1916. It was officially adopted by the Palestine Liberation Organization in 1964 and later became the official flag of the State of Palestine after its declaration of independence in 1988. It is widely recognized as the national symbol of the Palestinian people.
