Kyrgyzstan
The national flag of Kyrgyzstan features a red field with a golden sun containing forty rays and a stylized tunduk at its center. Red symbolizes bravery and valor, the forty rays represent the forty historic Kyrgyz tribes united as one nation, and the tunduk, the crown of a traditional yurt, signifies home, unity and the universe.
Kyrgyzstan officially adopted its national flag on March 3, 1992, shortly after gaining independence following the dissolution of the Soviet Union. The flag was updated in December 2023 with refinements to the sun and tunduk design while preserving its national symbolism.
