Transnistria
The flag of Transnistria consists of three horizontal stripes in red, green and red with a gold hammer and sickle beneath a gold-bordered red star in the canton. Red symbolizes courage and historical continuity, green represents the fertile land and hope, while the Soviet-era emblem reflects the region's retained historical symbolism.
Transnistria adopted its current flag in 2000, preserving the design previously used by the Moldavian Soviet Socialist Republic with minor adjustments. It serves as the official flag of the self-governing territory that declared independence from Moldova in 1990 but has very limited international recognition.
