Oman
The national flag of Oman consists of three horizontal stripes in white, red and green with a vertical red band at the hoist bearing the national emblem. White symbolizes peace and prosperity, red represents the country's history, courage and struggle for independence, while green reflects the fertile land, agriculture and the Jebel Akhdar mountains. The national emblem depicts crossed swords and a traditional khanjar (dagger), symbolizing Omani heritage.
Oman officially adopted its current national flag on December 17, 1995, updating the proportions of the earlier design introduced in 1970 after Sultan Qaboos bin Said came to power. The flag reflects the Sultanate's history, sovereignty and cultural traditions.
