French Guiana
French Guiana is an overseas department and region of France, so the official flag used by public authorities is the French Tricolour. Its blue, white and red colors represent the French Republic and reflect French Guiana’s constitutional connection with France.
French Guiana became a French overseas department in 1946 and is also an overseas region of France. As an integral part of the French Republic, it officially uses the national flag of France. Various local symbols and unofficial regional flags have also been used to represent Guianese identity, but they do not replace the French Tricolour as the official national flag.
