Chad
The national flag of Chad consists of three vertical stripes in blue, yellow and red. Blue symbolizes the sky, hope and water resources, yellow represents the sun and the desert in northern Chad, while red stands for progress, unity and the sacrifices made for independence.
The current flag of Chad was officially adopted on November 6, 1959, shortly before the country gained independence from France in 1960. Inspired by the French tricolor and the Pan-African colors, the design reflects Chad's history, sovereignty and national identity.
