American Samoa

The flag of American Samoa features a white triangle bordered in red pointing toward the hoist on a dark blue field. Inside the triangle, a bald eagle holds a traditional Samoan war club and a fly whisk, symbolizing the connection between American sovereignty and Samoan culture, strength, wisdom and respect for tradition.

The current flag of American Samoa was officially adopted on April 24, 1960. Designed to represent the territory's relationship with the United States while preserving its Polynesian heritage, the flag combines American symbolism through the bald eagle with traditional Samoan cultural emblems.
