Tuvalu
The national flag of Tuvalu features a light blue field with the Union Jack in the canton and nine yellow stars representing the country's islands. The light blue symbolizes the Pacific Ocean, while the Union Jack reflects Tuvalu's historical ties with the United Kingdom. The stars are arranged to correspond to the geographic positions of the islands.
Tuvalu officially adopted its current national flag on October 1, 1978, when it gained independence from the United Kingdom. Although the number of stars briefly changed during the 1990s, the original nine-star design was restored in 1997 to represent all of Tuvalu's traditional islands.
