Singapur
The national flag of Singapore consists of two horizontal bands of red and white with a white crescent moon and five stars in the upper hoist. Red symbolizes universal brotherhood and equality, white represents purity and virtue, the crescent signifies a young nation on the rise, and the five stars stand for democracy, peace, progress, justice and equality.
Singapore officially adopted its current national flag on December 3, 1959, when it attained self-government. The flag was retained after Singapore joined Malaysia in 1963 and continued as the national flag when Singapore became an independent republic on August 9, 1965.
