Moldova

The national flag of Moldova consists of three vertical stripes in blue, yellow and red with the national coat of arms centered on the yellow stripe. Blue symbolizes freedom and the sky, yellow represents prosperity and justice, while red stands for courage and the sacrifices made for independence. The coat of arms featuring an eagle holding a cross and an aurochs head reflects the country's history, sovereignty and cultural heritage.

Moldova officially adopted its current national flag on April 27, 1990, shortly before declaring independence from the Soviet Union in 1991. The tricolour is based on the historic Romanian colors, while the addition of the national coat of arms distinguishes Moldova's national identity.
