Hong Kong

The regional flag of Hong Kong features a white five-petal Bauhinia blakeana flower on a red field. The red background reflects Hong Kong's connection with China, while the white flower symbolizes harmony and the principle of 'One Country, Two Systems.' Each petal bears a red five-pointed star representing the link with the People's Republic of China.

The current regional flag of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region was officially adopted on April 4, 1990, and first raised on July 1, 1997, when sovereignty over Hong Kong was transferred from the United Kingdom to the People's Republic of China.
