Azerbaijan
The national flag of Azerbaijan consists of three horizontal stripes in blue, red and green with a white crescent and an eight-pointed star in the center. Blue represents the Turkic heritage of the Azerbaijani people, red symbolizes progress, modernization and democracy, while green reflects the nation's Islamic cultural heritage. The crescent and star are traditional symbols of identity and unity.
The tricolor flag of Azerbaijan was first adopted in 1918 by the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic. After the Soviet period, it was officially restored on February 5, 1991, before the country regained full independence. Today, it stands as a symbol of Azerbaijan's sovereignty, national identity and historical continuity.
