Ukraine

The national flag of Ukraine consists of two equal horizontal bands of blue and yellow. Blue symbolizes the sky, peace and freedom, while yellow represents the country's fertile wheat fields, prosperity and hope. Together the colors reflect Ukraine's natural landscape and national identity.

Ukraine officially adopted its current national flag on January 28, 1992, following the restoration of its independence in 1991. The blue-and-yellow colors have been associated with Ukrainian lands since the Middle Ages and became national symbols during the 19th century.
