Nagorno Karabakh Republic
The flag of the former Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (Republic of Artsakh) was based on the Armenian tricolour of red, blue and orange, featuring a white stepped carpet pattern extending from the fly side. The colors represent the historical and cultural heritage shared with Armenia, while the white pattern symbolized separation, self-determination and the region's distinct identity.
The flag was officially adopted on June 2, 1992, following the declaration of the self-proclaimed Nagorno-Karabakh Republic. It remained in use by the de facto authorities until the republic ceased functioning after the events of 2023. Today it remains a historical symbol associated with the former entity.
