Bikini Atoll

The flag of Bikini Atoll features an orange field with a black rectangle in the canton containing white stars. The 23 stars represent the islands of Bikini Atoll, while three black stars symbolize the islands lost to nuclear testing. The colors and arrangement commemorate the atoll's history, resilience and enduring identity.

The flag of Bikini Atoll was adopted in 1987 by the local community. It was created to remember the displacement of the Bikini people following the United States nuclear tests conducted between 1946 and 1958. The design symbolizes both the atoll's heritage and the hope of preserving its cultural identity despite forced relocation.
