Armenia
The national flag of Armenia consists of three horizontal stripes in red, blue and orange. Red symbolizes the Armenian Highlands, the nation's enduring struggle for survival and the preservation of the Christian faith. Blue represents the peaceful skies and the desire to live in harmony, while orange stands for the creativity, hard work and resilience of the Armenian people.
The current flag of Armenia was originally adopted on August 24, 1990, shortly before the country's independence from the Soviet Union. Its design is based on the flag of the First Republic of Armenia (1918–1920). Since regaining independence in 1991, the tricolor has become the country's enduring symbol of national identity, freedom and unity.
