Christmas Island
The flag of Christmas Island features a blue and green field divided diagonally, with the Southern Cross, a golden bosun bird and the island's green silhouette. Blue represents the surrounding Indian Ocean, green symbolizes the island's tropical rainforest, the bird reflects native wildlife, and the island outline emphasizes its unique identity.
The current flag was selected through a public competition in 1986 and was officially proclaimed the flag of Christmas Island by the Administrator in 2002. It represents the island's geography, biodiversity and Australian affiliation.
