Zeeland

The flag of Zeeland features alternating blue and white wavy stripes with a red lion rising from the sea. The lion symbolizes strength and resilience, while the waves represent the province's close relationship with the sea and its motto, 'I struggle and emerge'.

The current flag of Zeeland was officially adopted on January 14, 1949. It is based on the historic coat of arms of the County of Zeeland and reflects the province's maritime heritage and centuries of land reclamation.
