Netherlands
The flag of the former Netherlands Antilles featured a white field crossed by a vertical and horizontal red stripe outlined in blue, with five white stars in the blue vertical band. The colors reflected ties to the Kingdom of the Netherlands, while the five stars represented the five main island territories: Curaçao, Bonaire, Saba, Sint Eustatius and Sint Maarten.
The flag was officially adopted on January 1, 1986, after Aruba became a separate constituent country within the Kingdom of the Netherlands. It remained the official flag until the Netherlands Antilles was dissolved on October 10, 2010.
