Yemen
The national flag of Yemen consists of three equal horizontal stripes in red, white and black. Red symbolizes the sacrifices made for freedom and the struggle for independence, white represents hope, peace and a bright future, and black reflects the end of oppression and the nation's resilience. The colors are the traditional Pan-Arab colors.
The Republic of Yemen officially adopted its current national flag on May 22, 1990, when North Yemen and South Yemen united to form a single sovereign state. The design reflects Arab unity and the country's modern history.
