British Columbia

The flag of British Columbia features the provincial shield beneath the Union Flag with a golden crown and a setting sun over blue and white wavy stripes. The design symbolizes British heritage, the Pacific Ocean and the province's western location where the sun sets.

British Columbia officially adopted its current provincial flag on June 14, 1960. It is based on the provincial coat of arms, originally granted in 1906, and reflects the province's history, geography and place within Canada.
