Togo
The national flag of Togo consists of five horizontal stripes alternating green and yellow with a red canton containing a white five-pointed star. Green symbolizes agriculture, forests and hope, yellow represents the country's natural resources and progress, red stands for the sacrifices made for freedom, and the white star signifies peace, wisdom and national unity.
Togo officially adopted its current national flag on April 27, 1960, the day it gained independence from France. The flag was designed by artist Paul Ahyi and combines Pan-African colors with a layout inspired by the Liberian flag.
