Mozambique
The national flag of Mozambique consists of horizontal green, black and yellow stripes separated by white fimbriations, with a red triangle at the hoist containing a yellow star, an open book, a hoe and an AK-47 rifle. Green symbolizes the land, black represents Africa, yellow stands for mineral wealth, white signifies peace, red reflects the struggle for independence, while the emblem represents education, agriculture, defense and international solidarity.
Mozambique officially adopted its current national flag on May 1, 1983. The design evolved from the flag of the liberation movement FRELIMO after independence from Portugal in 1975 and reflects the country's history, sovereignty and national development.
