Greenland
The flag of Greenland features two horizontal stripes in white and red with a red-and-white off-center circle. White symbolizes the island's vast ice sheet and glaciers, while red reflects the surrounding ocean at sunset and the close historical ties with the Kingdom of Denmark. The circle represents the sun and the icebergs floating in the sea.
The current flag of Greenland, known as Erfalasorput ('Our Flag'), was officially adopted on June 21, 1985. Designed by Thue Christiansen, it is the only Nordic flag that does not use the traditional Nordic cross, emphasizing Greenland's unique cultural identity.
