Brussels

The flag of the Brussels-Capital Region features a stylized yellow iris on a blue background. The iris is closely associated with Brussels and reflects the region’s identity and its historic connection with the wetlands in which the flower grew.

The Brussels-Capital Region was established in 1989 as one of Belgium’s three regions. The iris became its official emblem, and the current simplified flag design was introduced in 2015 as part of a modernized regional visual identity.
